Title I offers a variety of learning experiences for all students. Each day we endeavor to create an atmosphere where all children can learn with meaningful activities. Phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension are always the focus of our instruction as we strive for students to become independent, successful and metacognitive learners.
As we work toward becoming "real" readers students are learning to predict, monitor & clarify, visualize, create and answer questions, infer, determine importance, make connections, evaluate/judge while also focusing on fluency. This is done in a small group and individual format.
Meaningful, hands-on activities are prepared daily in reading and math. We always attempt to instill in students the reality that learning is a lifelong process and that READING is a large part of the process.
Our goal is to teach children to "learn to read" so they can "read to learn"!!
