Cool Summer Music Websites

Summer Music Websites:
The main reason for recommending these websites is so your student can practice vocabulary and math skills. In addition, there are great visuals incorporated with the online music games to keep your child engaged. I hope you will find these helpful and that your child will enjoy these games while connecting to reading and math this summer.
Check out our very own North Carolina Symphony! Learn the history behind our state symphony and current events taking place.

I strongly recommend the game "Flying Instruments" from the Nutcracker.
In this game, students will enjoy matching instruments in this timed game where you must match the instrument with the correct family of the orchestra. For example, the student may be asked to match a violin with the string family or a a trumpet with the brass family.
After clicking on the link and getting to the main site, you may click on "Activities." There you can connect with your reading skills, practice math such as addition, subtraction and fractions and you can even create your own homemade instruments! Have fun with music while reading and solving math riddles.
On this site; kids can learn about great composers, musicians, actors/actresses who have made great contributions to the arts. In addition, your student can create his or her own rhythms as well as practice identifying instruments of the band and orchestra. This is another great site to get your child to practice his or her own reading skills this summer.
Award-winning musician Bobby McFerrin inspires and motivates! This interactive site will enable your child to listen to many songs by Bobby McFerrin as well as provide many encouraging words as your child looks forward to a new and exciting year of learning.
Practice what you know about music symbols and notes on the staff! You can even pick up a new instrument this summer by learning about the guitar.
